Outsourcing customer service in Spain costs between €7.95 and €12 per agent-hour with a nearshore provider, compared to an in-house cost of between €15.55 and €21.60 per hour, depending on the agent’s profile. The difference stems from the collective bargaining agreement: a call center agent’s base salary is €17,139.58 gross per year, plus bonuses, Social Security contributions, and substitute pay.
That’s the short answer. The long answer involves some nuances that significantly affect the final figure, and it’s worth understanding them before asking anyone for a quote.
What does the 2026 contact center collective bargaining agreement stipulate?

The Third National Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Contact Center Sector is the governing agreement here. In January 2026, the Joint Committee approved the pay scales for the year, and the text was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on March 6, signed by the employers’ association CEX along with CCOO and UGT.
This year’s increase is 3.4%. It is based on Article 45, which ties the increase to the previous year’s final CPI plus half a point, with a floor of 1% and a ceiling of 3.5%. Since the CPI for 2025 closed at 2.9%, the calculation comes to 3.4%, which is one-tenth of a percentage point below the cap.
- A monthly base salary of €1,224.26 for Level 10, paid in fourteen installments.
- Annual gross salary of €17,139.58 for a 39-hour workweek.
- A 3.4% increase applied to all items in Annexes I and II.
It’s important to pay attention to the job level. Starting in 2024, the former levels 11 and 12 were eliminated and merged into level 10, which was renamed “Call Center Agent” or “Operator.” If someone cites job levels that no longer exist, they’re working with outdated tables.
What bonuses are added to the base salary?

This is where budgets go awry. The base salary is the minimum, not the total cost. The collective bargaining agreement sets out a list of bonuses that are triggered based on your performance.
| Concept | Amount for 2026 | When it is activated |
|---|---|---|
| Language Plus | €130.95 per month | The agent provides service in another language |
| More Nightlife | €1.96 per hour | Night Shift Work |
| Transportation Bonus | €6.56 per day | As agreed upon in the service |
| Sunday surcharge (Level 10) | €15.33 | Every Sunday worked |
| Standard Holiday (Level 10) | €44.51 | Each holiday worked |
| Special Holiday (Level 10) | €94.39 | Public holidays specified in the collective bargaining agreement |
| Remote Work | €1.34 or €1.05 per day | A workweek of 30 hours or more, or less |
| Mileage | 0.24 € per kilometer | Service Routes |
A service that operates from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and only in Spanish, barely touches this table. A service that operates on Saturdays, provides support in English, and closes at 11 p.m. handles the entire table. That is why two companies of the same size receive quotes that are completely different.
What is the actual hourly cost of an in-house agent?

Gross pay isn’t just the cost of an hour worked. You have to add the employer’s share of Social Security contributions, the position, software licenses, initial training, absenteeism, and coordination hours. And then divide that by the number of hours the agent is actually on call—not the hours listed in the contract.
| Profile | Internal cost per hour | Cost Savings with Nearshore Staffing |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Call Center Agent | €15.55 | 49 % |
| Bilingual English-speaking agent | €17.64 | 55 % |
| Multilingual Agent | €19.00 | 48 % |
| Team Coordinator | €19.84 | 50 % |
| Operations Team Lead | 21.60 € | 54 % |
The percentages on the right compare that cost to our flat rate. The fair comparison isn’t salary versus rate: it’s cost per productive hour versus rate per productive hour. Anything else inflates the savings.
What pricing models are available?

There are three common billing methods, and each is suited to a different situation.
Per hour
Fixed hourly rate per agent, all-inclusive. This works well when the volume is predictable and you want an invoice you can budget for without any surprises. At metrickal, we start at 20 hours per week.
Per agent per month
Fixed price per full-time position. This is ideal when you need dedicated staff who know your product inside and out and won’t rotate through the position. Coverage for sick leave and vacation is included.
By volume
You pay per call answered or ticket resolved. This model makes sense for campaigns and seasonal peaks, because during slow months you don’t pay for idle hours.
When Is It Worth Outsourcing?

It doesn’t always pay off. If your volume is low, stable, and in a single language, a smaller team might be a better option for you. These are the situations where the numbers tip in the other direction.
- Your volume of leads fluctuates with the season, and you end up with excess staff during slow months.
- You need someone who can provide customer service in English or another language, and you haven’t been able to find the right candidate for weeks.
- Sick leave and vacations leave you with unfilled positions several times a year.
- You want to extend the hours, but the night shift and holiday premiums are eating into the profit margin.
- It takes you more than two months to fill each vacancy, and service suffers in the meantime.
How does it compare to setting up the team in your city?
The collective bargaining agreement is state-wide, so the base salary is the same in Madrid as it is in Málaga. What varies is the local job market: competition for bilingual candidates, the time it takes to fill a vacancy, and employee turnover. We’ve broken down these differences city by city.
- Call center outsourcing in Seville, with details of the agreement applicable to a voice service.
- Outsourcing customer service in Málaga, where the demand for multilingual support is changing the equation.
- Back-office outsourcing in Madrid and Bilbao for administrative processes.
- Customer service in Barcelona and logistics in Valencia.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much will a customer service representative cost in Spain in 2026?
The base salary for a Level 10 call center agent is €1,224.26 per month, paid in fourteen installments, which amounts to €17,139.58 gross annually for a full-time 39-hour workweek. Including Social Security contributions, overhead costs, training, and absenteeism, the actual cost per hour worked is approximately €15.55. For a bilingual agent or a coordinator, that figure rises to €21.60 per hour.
What bonuses should be added to the base salary?
The collective bargaining agreement establishes a language allowance of €130.95 per month, a night shift allowance of €1.96 per hour, a transportation allowance of €6.56 per day, and a surcharge of €15.33 for each Sunday worked at Level 10. Regular holidays are paid at €44.51, and special holidays at €94.39. If your shift covers afternoons, weekends, or multiple languages, these allowances are no longer just a minor benefit.
How much can you save by outsourcing compared to hiring in-house?
Between 45% and 55%, depending on the position. The savings are greater for positions where the collective bargaining agreement requires the payment of additional compensation—such as for bilingual employees or afternoon and weekend shifts—because these items are already included in a fixed hourly rate.
Which pricing model is best for each company?
If your volume is stable, the hourly or per-agent-per-month rate is the most predictable. If you experience seasonal peaks, the volume-based pricing model helps you avoid paying for idle hours during slow months. What almost never works is mixing models midway through a campaign.
How long does it take for an outsourced team to become operational?
At metrickal, it takes less than three weeks from diagnosis to having the team up and running with your workflows. Hiring permanent staff in Spain takes an average of eight to twelve weeks, including recruitment, contracting, onboarding, and training—and considerably longer if the candidate needs to be bilingual.
What about sick leave and vacation?
If you use your own staff, you’re responsible for covering those shifts—either through overtime or by hiring and training a temporary replacement. With an external provider, coverage is included in the price. At metrickal, we can replace an agent within 72 hours without any penalty.
What to Do with These Numbers
Take your actual volume of contacts from the past year, break it down by month and time slot, and calculate how many agent hours you really need. With that information in hand, comparing in-house staff to a vendor is no longer a matter of opinion.
